Shotgun Sawyer's Self-Titled Blast: Gritty Hard Blues for the Soul

Shotgun Sawyer, hailing from Auburn, California, has struck a chord with their latest self-titled album, released in 2024 under the banner of Ripple Music. This trio, featuring Dylan Jarman on vocals and guitar, Brett "The Butcher" Sanders on bass, and Cody Tarbell on drums, has made a name for themselves by reviving the spirit of Delta blues with a modern, hard-hitting twist.

The self-titled "Shotgun Sawyer" is what I would call the epitome of gritty hard blues. The album kicks off with "Cock N' Bull", setting the tone with its raw, pulsating energy and Jarman's distinctive, bluesy vocals.

Every track feels like a journey back to the roots of rock 'n' roll but with a contemporary edge that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Songs like "Isildur's Bane" and "Master Nasty" showcase the band's ability to blend blistering guitar work with soulful, bluesy melodies, all while maintaining that heavy, authentic sound.

This album is not just a collection of songs; it's a statement of Shotgun Sawyer's evolution. After a period of hiatus and personal growth for the band members, particularly Jarman, who shared his experiences through this music, "Shotgun Sawyer" is a rebirth.

It's a testament to the band's resilience, creativity, and commitment to the blues genre. The production, handled at Earth Tone Studios in Sacramento by Patrick Hills, captures the band's live energy perfectly, giving each track a live, unpolished feel that's rare in today's music landscape.

This album has quickly become a favorite, which is why we're proud to announce that "Shotgun Sawyer" has been added to our radio station rotation.

If you're looking for music that's got the soul of the blues with the power of rock, this is your new go-to. Adding "Shotgun Sawyer" to our playlist was a no-brainer.

It's not just about playing good music; it's about celebrating the kind of raw talent that doesn't often get the spotlight it deserves on FM radio. Shotgun Sawyer's music is a reminder of what rock 'n' roll should be - authentic, passionate, and unapologetically real.

So, tune in and let the gritty hard blues of Shotgun Sawyer take you on a ride through the heart of rock 'n' roll.

Around 2014, I noticed rock music starting to sound cookie-cutter, over-polished, and pop-inspired, as if it had lost its soul and become corporate and profit-driven. That led me to seek out bands with a raw, authentic rock sound, which inspired the creation of Cowboy's Juke Joint Radio.
