Seedy Jeezus: A Journey Through Sound

Seedy Jeezus: A Journey Through Sound

Seedy Jeezus started in Melbourne, Australia. They began in 2010. Their sound mixes 70s rock, psychedelia, and a bit of stoner rock. They've become known for their live shows, where they really stretch their songs.

The band consists of Lex Waterreus on guitar and vocals, Paul Crick on bass, and Mark Sibson on drums. They've released several albums, with their self-titled debut in 2015 making an impact.

Their latest album "Tranquonauts 2" came out recently. It's a collaboration with Isaiah Mitchell from Earthless and Tony Reed from Mos Generator. The album was recorded during a jam session in Melbourne, and later shaped by Lex in New York.

This album is all about long, epic tracks that take you on a musical journey. People say it's great for road trips, with its laid-back yet powerful vibe. The music feels like driving on an open road with the wind in your hair.

Seedy Jeezus has a history of playing at cool festivals like Freak Valley. Their music has a reputation for being hypnotic, with heavy riffs and spacey guitars. They're compared to a mix of Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and the MC5, but with an Australian twist.

They've also done live albums, capturing the raw energy of their performances. One such album was recorded during a brief window between lockdowns, showing their resilience and creativity.

Their songs like "Wormhole" and "How Ya Doin'" are favorites, showcasing their ability to blend different styles seamlessly. This band has a knack for making you feel like you're part of their musical exploration, whether you're listening to their records or catching them live.

Seedy Jeezus keeps evolving, always pushing their boundaries. Their music is about more than just listening; it's about experiencing the journey they take you on.

Around 2014, I noticed rock music starting to sound cookie-cutter, over-polished, and pop-inspired, as if it had lost its soul and become corporate and profit-driven. That led me to seek out bands with a raw, authentic rock sound, which inspired the creation of Cowboy's Juke Joint Radio.
